Why not consider Brighton for a few days away on your boat and use some of your free 42 nights.

We sailed our boat Azuree to Brighton in August.

It took over six hours to sail down but it was worth it when we got there.

When approaching Brighton Marina call on VHF channel 80 or 37 or call 01273 819919. The marina staff are very helpful. The entrance lies between the East and West Breakwater arms and is dredged to -2.0m C.D., When approaching from the west, make sure you given the Western Breakwater a wide berth to avoid boats leaving the marina. The entrance channel is buoyed to the inner entrance, which is marked by fixed red and green vertical lights.

Once you have checked in please ask the marina for an advantage car, this gives many discounts around the marina and well worth it.

There is a big ASDA at the marina so you can shop for all your provisions; there is a chemist inside as well as cash point.

You certainly won't be bored in Brighton and you won't go hungry either.

The first night we were spoilt for choice. The marina has a great selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.

There are a few outlet shops around the marina and a very good Chandlery is situated on the Eastern side If you want to stay fit there is a very good health club David Lloyd or if you prefer to relax and watch a good film you won't be disappointed with an eight screen Cineworld on site.

We stayed about 3 days and it was very hot and sunny. We took the Volks train from the marina to the Pier. It is the oldest electrical railway in England or you can walk along the seafront it takes about half an hour.

As you approach the Pier you will see the New Brighton Wheel. It offers panoramic views of the city, landmarks and coastline a great day out for the family. Book on line and get 10% off www.brightonwheel.com.

A visit to The Lanes is a must, Brighton's historic quarter. It's a maze of alleyways offering an abundance of quirky shops and fabulous restaurants.

We tried English restaurant one night which was lovely, mainly fish dishes but very pleasant sitting out on their terrace during the evening.

The next night we dined at Cas Don Carlos, what a fun place this is. Serves authentic Spanish Tapas, this place was buzzing and so much fun. Strongly recommend booking.

Another great place was Donatellos, an Italian restaurant, very popular and you can dine inside or outside and watch the world go by.

All in all we had some fun in Brighton and well worth a visit.
